Two years after “Shabang: Reborn,” the Central Coast’s indie-pop party is set to return to Laguna Lake Park May 13th and 14th. The full lineup, announced today, includes a handful of nationally-touring acts supplemented by local favorites. A complete list of bands is included below.
Headlined by Gen-Z favorites TV Girl and STRFKR, the festival has a clear appeal to a college demographic. Other indie pop darlings featured include San Francisco’s Hot Flash Heat Wave and Los Angeles’ Neil Frances. Dance music, psychedelic rock, and indie rock acts are represented as well.
The show is slated to take place across three stages, with each genre given its own stage. The Main Stage showcases indie rock, the house and disco bands will populate the Funk Safari Stage, and the Cuesta Ridge Stage will house the indie rockers. Most of the local talent can be found on the third stage, which is slated to feature San-Luis-Obispo-based rockers The Bogeys, Couch Dog, Swede and Skogen, and indie pop purveyors Honeyboys. Aside from live music, the event will feature light shows, workshops, classes, and a silent disco.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shabang is requiring proof of vaccination or a negative antigen or PCR test within 24 or 48 hours of the event, respectively. As of the time of publication, attendees will not be required to wear masks at the event.
The pre-sale for Shabang opened on Friday, and runs until February 11th. Tickets are $105 for a weekend pass, $45 for a Friday pass, and $70 for a Saturday pass. VIP passes are available for an additonal $50 per day. They can be purchased here.
